Make The Most Of Your Business

If you have a small home based business you might be sitting on a gold mine and not even realize it. Almost every business has potential for growth! There are so many ways for your small business to grow - Here are just a few examples ~

1. Find Follow-up products - For example - if you make sweaters for dogs you can also offer shampoo for them or leashes that match. You make and sell candles than get some candle holders wholesale or some fancy lighters. You get the idea.

2. Always be learning new skills. If you make candles now ,try learning to make soaps.

3. Always be searching for new customers. Join local groups, go to local sports events, and so on. Meet as many new people as you can. If people recognize you and like you than they will most likely want to do business with you. Don’t push you business when it isn’t appropriate, but do let everyone know what you do. This is great advice for direct sellers or party plan reps.

4. Reward good turns! If one of your customers referred you to a great sale or customer give them something to show your appreciation.

5. Take great care of your customers. Find out what they need and listen to what they say. If you have not heard from a customer in a while follow-up with them. Just call them and ask how everything is . You do not have to push your business,but it does help to let them know you are still around and still doing business.

When you are wanting to start a small business you should be able to answer certain questions , that you should also have in your business plan. You will have to have all of this together when you go to try and get a small business loan. Take your time and think about these. Really put some time into these, because you will be asked about them.

3. How will this loan affect you?

4. Do you have any collateral?

5. How will this loan be repaid?

6. When are you needing the money?

7. Do you have detailed projections for the business? Are they backed by historical data?

8. How much can your small business afford to lose and still be viable?

9. How do you plan to manage the risk that will come with having and running your own small business?

A good business plan is a must for any small business that is wanting to try for a loan and I think that it is even a good idea for anyone who has a home based business to have one. Go back to it once a year and see how far you have come and to see if any of your plans have changed or have been met. Keeping all of your plans and goals written down will help you to stay on track and keep you moving forward.

10. Can you manage your finances now and in the past, and if you decide to work at home, will you be able to manage the finances of the home based business or will you need help?

Your Purpose For Working at Home

You have it in your mind that you are wanting to stay at home and work! Why? What is your purpose for working at home?

You should really put a lot of thought into starting a home based business and keep in mind that you want to be doing something that YOU love to do! Do not let others influence you, this is your goal and dream. Now get out there and live it!

Be A Balanced Mom

So You want to go from being a stay at home mom to being a work at home mom. Moms are pulled in many directions. There are kids, the husband, the household, and so much more. It never seems like it all gets done. To make the flip to also being a work at home mom, you need to have great time management and organization skills. This will ensure that you get everything done and still have time for your family.
Use these tips to help you find the balance to become a better mom and work at home mom:
1. Use a calendar. You will stay organized and keep track of home, school, and your work schedule with just one calendar. Having a calendar hanging in a certain place , like a kitchen, where the whole family can see it lets them know your schedule also. That way when you are working they also know it and know not to bother you. I also find that it is good to have an agenda that I can keep in my handbag so that it is with me all of the time.
2. Know when to ask for help. Let your family know if you need them to maybe help you a little bit more with housework. You might be having a busy week “at work” because of holiday or taxes.
3. Do not hold on to guilt that you might have because you are “working”. You cannot do everything. You might have to ask for help. You have to remember that what you are trying to do by starting your own home based business is for your family. Do not overextend yourself though.
4. When you are not working , spend your time with your family wisely. Do not plop down in front of the tv. Go for a walk, play a game, or something else where you are really connecting with your family.
5. Set dates on your calendar for spending time with your family and on your self. Do not let your home based business dominate your life.
6. Change things when you need to. Talk it over with your family if you are needing to change your schedule. You might have found out that you can get more done with your home based business on a certain day or time and then that will leave more time for you to be spending with family and the house.
